APPLICATIONS PROCEDURE

The levels of credentialing will be as follows:

SUBSTANCE ABUSE THERAPY CERTIFICATION:

Level I: Registered Candidate - For those who wish to signal their intent to become credentialed. They have begun their training requirement of 270 contact hours and may be working in the addictions field in some capacity.

Level II: Addiction Professional Intern. For those who have completed the training requirement of 270 contact hours but do not have the needed work experience but seek such over the next five years.

Level III: Certified Substance Abuse Therapist (CSAT). For those who have completed both the initial 270 contact hours of training, the 2 years work experience and passed the on line examination.

Level IV: Certified Master Substance Abuse Therapist (MSAT). For those who meet the Level III requirements, have an additional 5 years work experience, have completed training at the Master level and passed the  examination.

GAMBLING THERAPY CERTIFICATION:

CGAT Level I: Registered Candidate - For those who wish to signal their intent to become credentialed. They have gambling specific training of 30 hrs and  evidence of Gambling Therapy work of 100hrs (can be achieved over 2 yrs).

CGAT Level II: Addiction Professional Intern. Completion of Level I requirements. They have gambling specific training of 60 hrs and  evidence of Gambling Therapy work of 2000hrs (can be achieved over 2 yrs).

APCB will contribute for various addictions, including substance addictions (e.g. alcoholism and drug addition) behavioral addictions (e.g. compulsive gambling, sex addiction and internet addiction), the provision of or contribution towards medical and scientific research and the provision of education, training and consultancy services and services of all kinds.

Clinical Professional Development (CPD)


• Clinical Supervision will be conducted by Approved Clinical Supervisors.
• Panel community experts will ensure effective supervision and training.
• Effective system for therapists to upgrade and grow their skills monthly.
• CPD sessions will be for 2-3 hours each month.
• Attendance allows for participants to meet clinical supervision hours for first year.
